Looking for an instrument panel for a Beta engine

I know this is a long shot but I'm looking for an instrument panel for my Beta 30 engine in my sailboat. Any leads or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Highly recommend if dealer price is acceptable.

You could try AC DC Marine.

Some instrument panels are not plug and play. Gauges, warning lights, preheat, etc.? You need to know what senders you have and ask a dealer if you can connect any panel to your engine.

Re: Looking for an instrument panel for a Beta engine

I wrote an article in Good Old Boat magazine a few years ago about making a replacement.

"Engine instrument update” by John Churchill
Pages 36 - 39, Issue 94, Jan-Feb 2014
Unfortunately, Not Available Online.

May be able to get a copy from the publisher. If not, PM me for a copy

Have you contacted Betamarine us or one of their Florida dealers ?
Here's their brochure with a phone number.

John, I was able to dig out that magazine from my pile. I am redoing the panel for my Westerbeke (30B3) and it will help a lot. I am replacing the ignition key by a toggle switch down below but reachable from the cockpit and repositioning the gauges inside a watertight box. Great article, but you did not mention if you replaced the Tach. If the tach is replaced the original engine hours must be recorded I suppose.

If you are replacing an engine panel that has an hour meter, do what the previous owner of my boat did.

He took the original hour meter and moved it to the engine room. Since it was still working it let him point to that original instrument to confirm the current total engine hours instead of saying "trust me."

When you replace an hour meter in an aircraft, you just note the hours in the log book.
On my boat I just kept the old one, pretty simple to add them together.

I kept the original tach, which actually was not the original, it had been replaced in the first decade of the boat's life. The hourmeter does not carry quite the same legal ramifications as does a car's odometer. Aircraft are a whole 'nuther headache.

My hourmeter is integral to the tachometer, not a separate instrument.

Agreed but it is the only record of how "old" the engine is and also imperative for maintenence.

Not sure I understand - so now you have 2 meters - original and new?
Original + new = total engine hours?
I assume the original meter was not integral within the tach, and how did he wire it?

Re: Looking for an instrument panel for a Beta engine

I think he’s saying he moved the original tach to the engine room, and connected it up. Thus the engine room tach shows the true full engine hours, the new one outside only the hours since replacement.
