Jabsco Pump model 3270-0001 - Is this shaft beyond helping?

This is supposed to be the backup pump but there is some pitting and a groove in the shaft. My eyes must be getting bad because it looks way worse in the picture than in person!

Is this thing toast or do you think I can speedy sleeve this to function as a backup pump?

A little sandpaper isn't going to fix that. You could try a Speedi Sleeve though. https://www.skf.com/us/products/indu...-speedi-sleeve

FWIW: I put a Speedi Sleeve (it was an alternate brand but the same principle) on a much worse shaft in a similar Johnson pump and it has worked much as the original setup did. Seal life has decreased a bit... maybe... but that is hard to accurately measure in such an application. I'm happy with the solution.

Thanks. I will give that a try. Sounds worthy of a backup.
