Isuzu 3 cyl wont stop.

Hi all.
Tested the engine and after a bit of head scratching and fiddling around (the fuel feed line from the tank was fitted on the return and vice versa) it started and runs like a clock.

Problem is I cant turn it off!! It has a pull to stop cable attached to a buttrfly at the intake port but that is ineffective. I tried choking it with the palm of my hand but the bugger just won't quit. I ended up disconnecting the fuel line and let it run dry.

This is strange as when i had the engine at home just a quick flick of the valve and everything goes quiet.

Normally people ask for help with hard to start engines but...

Any assistance from the diesel gurus would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Joe

Sounds like there is an air leak somewhere after the intake where that shutoff butterfly is

Also for the OP, I would seriously caution against using your palm to try to stop a diesel engine (even a small diesel). The suction is intense and can easily damage your hand. I reckon you dodged a bullet this time - clearly there is a air leak closer to the inlet valves which saved your hand, this time!

Re: Isuzu 3 cyl wont stop.

Hi all.

2 inlet manifold bolts were loose.

Butterfly valve was not sealing properly.

Fixed both and all is good.

Thanks

Thanks for that Hank.

I had a look at your Albany wiki...Very well done!

I've only sailed there once, many years ago for the Freo Albany race. I recall some hectic times rounding Cape Leuwin. Ahhhh.. good times.

Cheers
