Installing a Vetus Type 6 Coupling

I am in the process of installing a Vetus type 6 flexible coupling on a 35 mm shaft. This is the one that clamps on the shaft, and does not use a key, but rather uses pins through the shaft to secure it.

Looking for advice from people who might have installed one of these before. The pins are two part, an 8mm OD roll pin, and a 5 mm drift pin that goes inside to lock everything together.

Holes drilled fine.

Roll pins inserted fine. Not easy, but they are in.

The drift pins are giving me fits. I have them in half way, but just can’t get them any further. Of course space to swing a hammer is limited, and the picto-graphic instructions are worthless.

Any hints?
