Inline Fuel Pump for Generator

I have been trying to solve a fuel supply problem to our generator and after lots of the normal fixes I want to try installing an inline fuel pump. The generator is a Mastervolt Whisper 8 and the fuel lines are 8mm 5/16 ID.
Any suggestions for a 12 volt fuel pump I can install inline?
I am currently in Vanuatu but I have a friend coming from the USA later this month and he could bring a pump with him.

Thanks for any suggestions.

If you are having problems getting fuel to the generator because the standard lift pump isn't up to the job, mount the electric fuel pump as close to the tank as possible. All of these pumps push fuel better than they suck fuel. Facet make an excellent low pressure pump which is available from the NAPA stores at a reasonable price. Their part # is 610-1052.

Re: Inline Fuel Pump for Generator

You might consider finding a fuel starvation problem. According to the online manual for your generator it has an electric fuel pump already. ( http://images.mastervolt.nl/files/0401_EN_v1.pdf ) Unless your fuel tank is a very long way from the generator lift pump it should be more than capable of supplying the needed fuel. You might look at other fuel problems on other threads for possible causes. Walbro Fuel Pumps, seems to be the pump of choice amongst many boaters and truckers. Just my two cents, Mike.

We have an onan with electric pump, and had to add another to keep it running when the tank was half full. so if you already have an electric pump, get another. as already mentioned, fit as close to the tank as possible.

Hi Jim,
If you haven't already solved your problems and are in Vila give me a call on 5522564. I don't have a pump but should be able to find one here or possibly troubleshoot your problem. I'm commercial marine engineer here but CF members get an hour's work free out of me and I'm more than prepared to run you around town at no cost. It's always nice to meet the faces that go with the avatars
