Injector HP Fuel Line - How to Make?

A separate thread on exorbitantly priced Yanmar replacement parts might be fun. I am right now in total shock at the price for a forward gear (a single gear the size of a small tuna can) for a HBW10 transmission. [And, my injection fuel lines (3HM35F) are not available at any price.]

That is eye watering but also very interesting.

IME, Australia Yanmar pricing is significantly more expensive than Yanmar USA so as an exercise, I priced the above part here in Australia.

At today's exchange rate, the price here is only $405 (USD). Stock is available in Melbourne Australia.

Is there going to be a warranty on this? Have you thought about using hose and TIG welding some fittings together? 3000psi aircraft hose should last longer than you.

I wouldn't have said "only" $405 considering it wud b $45 as a tractor part but yes in comparison.
Thats wierd pricing as I've had to buy injector pump parts from Toad & they were 1/2 NZ price which is kinda close to Oz price.
Maybe Toad made a mistake?
Great that you researched that for him Wotname. I reckon you could get the gear made for that ( but don't know) If it was near the same price I'd get it made just to spite Yanmar but that's just me.

The incident that lead to my rebellion from Yanmar genuine parts was an alternator replacement. It,s a loong time ago but figures in the $800-900 range come to mind.

One of the philosophies I have pursued in life is that some times to properly fix a thing you need to completely bugger it. In pursuit of this philosophy went and bought a Bosch Universal 85 amp alternator and took a hacksaw to the Yanmar alternator mount (the completely buggering it component of the rebellion)

Here we are about 15 years later and the $165 on special Bosch is still going strong.

I always warrant my own work on my own boat

No, I have never considered hose and I can't see how it could work but I ain't a diesel injector expert and I'm always happy to think about new ways.

They sell hoses for a Perkins 4- 107/108. The ends are fabricated.

Yea I agree with Ecos it's possible, have seen braided flexible diesel fuel injection lines but doubt the reliability is up there with steel. Pressure wouldnt be a problem as many hydraulic hoses operate at far higher pressures than your 2QM20
However think about how many times you see a hydraulic hose blow compared to a steel injection line?
Keep looking for steel pipe stock but you could talk to the hydraulics bloke at the hangar.

They don't even use the good stuff for those Perkins injector hoses. Probably really meant for emergency repair.
You could TIG weld some -3 JIC fittings to the end of the old line, use MIL-spec fittings with 3000psi hose. That kind of hose has a 10 year life, how about your warranty?

I shouldn't talk for Wotname but I suspect 10 years life wont cut the mustard for him. He will rebuild to last at least as long as OEM but most likely more.
Can't guess at his personal warranty but I'd rather have an engine he rebuilt than any regular commercial enterprise rebuilt engine with a warranty provided his labour hours weren't included in the asking price

You cannot use hose.

The reason that the injector lines are so thick walled on these little motors is not because of the pressure they experience, the burst is probably around 12,000 - 15,000 psi, it is because with the miniscule amount of fuel pumped each time the compressibility and line expansion would probably result in none through the injector nozzles.

That would be my opinion as well, unless there is some sort of super hose that emulates the properties of heavy walled steel tube. Just having a high burst pressure ain't enough!
