Re: Identification of Yanmar, Please

Hi Larry:
Thanks for bringing this thread to a conclusion. The boat and the engine are sweet. Unbelievable the prices for a new boat in Vietnam. So are you the divemaster?

Re: Identification of Yanmar, Please

Good luck with the business!

Lots to see there. I use to dive the islands around Quần Ðảo An Thới (09º 59N X 104º 01E) back in 1969/70. There was a prison camp and repair facilities for PBR's and Swift boats.

I can still see a scar on my little finger where I slid off some barnacles climbing up on a submerged rock.

Re: Identification of Yanmar, Please

Hi Peer and anybody else who may have this engine and gear box.
I had a final drive shaft bearing failure.
If your engine has high hours, you will need to check something.
There is a screen in the bottom of the gearbox and after years of oil blowing through it, mine eroded through and sent all manner of crap up into the transmission bearings, wiped them all out, but the gears are fine. Cost $800 to replace parts and labor for all the bearings in the gearbox.
Please contact me for more details !
Otherwise I have put about a thousand perfect hours on it, no problems at all.
happy boy here !
