I have a VETUS M4.15 (based on a Mitsubishi engine) I am very happy with this engine. 33hp at 3000rpm, 1800 rpm is the most economical/height of the power curve. At 2200rpm it pushes my 30'/17,000 boat at 7knots using less than 3/4gph. Present cost around $8900 US (they are built in Holland)
A list of Vetus engines 11 and 80 hp

Hey all, I spent last winter repowering also, I chose a 35 HP Beta Marine Kubota, boat is 38', around 18k lbs and its plenty of power. I could have gone 30 HP, chose 35 as I am in tidal areas quite frequently. I changed everything from the key to the prop. One of the many things I learned during this job, many of the new smaller diesels need to run hard, so don't overpower to much.I love my little 35, I say little old engine and trans almost 1000 lb, new engine and trans smaller and 375 LB total. Which ever engine you choose the best part is ,new is easy to maintain, is not someone elses headache, don,t skimp on oil change and service and you should have a sound dependable engine. I did not tally up the $, I know it was Alot, but hey I love the boat. Now I can concentrate on throwing cash into 10 other projects on it . Love it.....good luck with your project......Red
