Re: Hurth Transmission Identification

The ZF 15M would meet the ZF "pleasure craft" rating for 50 hp @ 3000 RPM, but ZF does not recognize sailboats as falling into the "pleasure craft" application. Which excludes displacement vessels. You might want to up size if you want a warranty. If you photo tach the crank and the prop shaft, you can determine the reduction very closely.

Hi, physically the same except for the extra length, but the control lever is on the other side and I needed to reverse the linkage at the control lever, not difficult and well worth the effort.

Re: Hurth Transmission Identification

I have all the Beneteau Manuals for this boat and the perkins manuals too. Nothing on the transmission. I am assuming it's in the vicinity of 2:1. I've read the spec sheets on the ZF15. It's in the parameters. Considering the the engine is showing a lifetime 4,500 hours it's withing the ZF15 duty cycle. Just make sure you don't skimp on the fluid changes and if possible I'd put a cooler on it for whatever that may be worth.
