Hurth HBW50 removal

I need to pull my marine gear (Hurt HBW 50 on a Universal M3-20) but I can't figure out how to get it off the engine. The manuals all show details on rebuilds but nothing on getting it secured to/unattached from the engine itself.

I've perused the forum, but can't find a thread that has my setup.
This is the first transmission I've ever worked on so I'm learning as I go.

The transmission is bolted to the flywheel housing from inside the housing. It appears in this drawing that the F/W housing has to be removed to take the gear off.


It may be easier (or mandatory) to pull the engine and transmission together and separate them after they're out of the boat.
