How I replaced my stuffing box and cutlass bearing.

I started my drive line repairs and up grades when I started hearing excessive noise coming from my warn out damper plate. Lots of slapping noise.

After everything was all said and done I have replaced my rear motor mounts, damper plate, gearbox, stuffing box, had my prop and prop shaft recondition and installed a new cutlass bearing.

I have used this forum a lot to help me with my projects. Here is a video that may help others doing this same kind of project.

Re: How I replaced my stuffing box and cutlass bearing.

The original problem was a warn out damper plate. But in order to get to the damper plate a lot of things had to come apart so I decided to replace everything. The motor runs so much more quieter and smooth now.

I have a Pathfinder Marine 50 diesel. In order to access the damper plate the bell housing has to come off. In order to get the bell housing off the rear motor mounts had to come off too....
