High voltage

Whenever i give it just a lil rpms the voltage will go to 16 or 17 any ideals what it is and price ranges? Just bought a 1980 23 ft bayliner Monterey cuddy.

High probability its your alternators voltage regulator. They arent very expensive. It would have been better to post this question in the electrical forum but I think you will get some response. Their are videos on you tube on how to test the voltage regulator & replace too. Hope thats some help.

Sorry I'm not an electrical guy, just a little knowledge. Forgot to mention you need to fix the problem immediately as you risk blowing all your electronics & cooking your batteries.

Click on the report post icon. This opens a dialogue box where you can ask a moderator to either remove the thread or move it or compress with the other thread etc.

The report goes straight to whatever moderators are on line ATM.
