The tampon trick! LOL! I would have never thought of that. I had no idea there was something so common that would suck up water and not diesel. From now on I will have a case of them on the boat.

Adopt inspection periodicity to the amount of water you find.
Racors are made for this.
I will second the motion here!! We had water in our fuel tanks and did exactly this and water all came out. Our pick up was to the bottom and we found out that water also carried sediment dirt that the fuel did not pick up. We added a drip tray under the Racors and completely fixed the situation... It became routine to check the Racors daily and to completely remove all the water. Good luck...
