Re: Help identifying an engine

it looks like the injector pump is made by CAV LUCAS so would suspect it is made in the uk
the absence of a watercooled exhaust manifold and combined heat exchanger would suggest it is an industrial engine and not a marine engine, per say and that it has been marinised ex factory with water pump">raw water pump added and remote heat exchanger and oil cooler.

no sure if BMC,or perkins made 3 cylinder engines, but this is the type of engine you might have found in a dumper truck or pnumatic air compressor in the 50's-early 60's

edit perkins P3 look about right housing for the pump etc

Re: Help identifying an engine

Hi Hoffontour
Your engine bears a lot of similarities to the old Perkins P3 tractor engines but I couldn’t find a photo with all the features on yours. I’m guessing that the valve cover has a decompression mechanism in it hence the unusual shape. A lot of the P3 range had an in-line injector pump and the rest had the DPA CAV pump like yours.
Does your boat have keel cooling or is there a remote heat exchanger tucked away out of frame?Click image for larger version
