Grocco Vented Loop: Is this Normal?

https://youtube.com/shorts/Mts3_uFui...aOeFzWX07LFD_k

This valve on the vented loop seems to be putting out a lot of water. Does this look right? PO had no hose on it and the thing was just venting into the boat and causing a bunch of corrosion and rot. I need to plumb it somewhere but feel like this is pushing more water than seems normal.

where does one normally plumb these too anyway?

I have a Volvo Penta antisiphon valve, but ver similar. It always seems to drip slightly. But not as much as that. Have you disassembled and cleaned it?

Your video showed more leakage at the start with higher rpm. Sometimes with mine it takes a little bit before the valve seats properly and the drips slow down to a tolerable amount. Normally they are just allowed to drip into the bilge.

Go to the Groco website.
https://www.groco.net/products/toile...n/vented-loops
Notice what Groco says about using that device in an exhaust system:

"Overboard venting is required if PVL or HVL series is used in an exhaust system."

Re: Grocco Vented Loop: Is this Normal?

Most vented loops have a duckbill valve in the fitting on the top, designed to allow air to enter when not running and to prevent water escaping when running. Having said that some owners, as have I, have done away with the valve and plumbed the small hose from the vent either overboard or to a cockpit drain. It should not be allowed to drain into the bilge.
