Re: fuel pump

Hi,

I have used one of these New Zealand made plastic bodied solid state electric pumps. It has been in series between the primary filter(Racor 500) and the engine for the last 2 years for priming and as a back up for the engine lift pump for our Yanmar.

No corrosion or electrical noise.

Re: fuel pump

It doesn't take much to do this job.. I have one like this attached to my engine base as a backup if the lift pump fails. It has run my honking big Detroit Diesel 4-53. At $21, it's good protection.

Carter P4594. Quiet. Runs forever.
It’s a vane pump and you can clean it. There is a small screen inside.
About $60 but worth it. Available at auto stores everywhere.
Used in refrigerator trucks, hot rods, aircraft.
Not suitable to pump beer at manatee pizza parties.
Happy trails to you.

Re: fuel pump

For what it’s worth, I have found out recently that a good lift pump adds years and years of service to your injector pump by doing all the ....

Wait for it...

Heavy LIFTING for the injector pump. It takes a lot of stress off the injector pump and eliminates cavitation, etc in the injector pump.
