Fuel leak?

We topped off the diesel on our new to us 2006 Jeanneau SO 37 and then found almost a gallon of fuel had leaked under the engine. We have a 3ym30 yanmar. We are wondering if the fuel vent got dislodged and we over-filled the tank? Any suggestions on where to look and how to fix it? We are out cruising in the Florida Keys.

Re: Fuel leak?

My first check would be the fuel return line back into the diesel tank.

Sometimes overfilling the tank can cause it to leak out from a poorly installed penetration

Re: Fuel leak?

Hi Pelagic, we just installed new gaskets on the three fuel lines (fuel in, fuel to engine, fuel to generator) into the fuel tank after the first time this happened 4 days ago. So the leak is not at the tank itself. We are cruising south along the Florida Keys and just topped off our fuel when it happened again. Is there an overflow vent that may have come loose?

Re: Fuel leak?

We also replaced the gasket on the fuel return line.

Re: Fuel leak?

There is a fill hose and a vent hose, as well as the sender for the fuel gauge.
