Fuel feed pump Volvo Penta 2040

Had some problems with my fuel feed pump, so i took it apart. There are one big diaframe and 2 small. One of the small one was broken, so i need a new, but it seems that Volvo dosent offer them, in fact a cant find any parts for the fuel feed pump, only a complete pump!! Can this really be the only solution? Buying a complete new pump, becaus a 50 diaframe is broken??

I have a fuel pump repair kit on board that contains the diaphrams, springs, etc, and it was inexpensive. The Volvo part number for the kit is 876688.

Hi Mark
Thank you for the information. I called the local dealer, he has the kit, but it is still 140$. I guess there is no way around it...

$140???? That sounds like the whole pump. There is nothing in the kit other than a couple of rubber diaphragms and springs. I am positive I bought ours for <$30 (I would have never bought it as a spare else-wise). Did you try marinepartsexpress.com?

The other place to try is Perkins. Your engine is a Perkins 100-series Perama M40. The fuel pump used is the same for the M20, M30 and M40 (as it is for the MD2020, 2030, 2040). Try Transatlantic Diesel for Perkins parts.

Re: Fuel feed pump Volvo Penta 2040

I bought my repair kit several years ago and know it was not anywhere near that much.

You could always plumb around it and install a NAPA $25 electric lift pump in its place. That is what Westerbeke/Universal does.
