Fuel cap gauge for outboard?

I have a little 6 hp Tohatsu outboard on my 22' sailboat. The built-in tank holds only 0.3 gallons, so when I use it I'm always worrying about when it will run dry. I've been thinking of trying to find one of those fuel caps with a built-in gauge to track the gas level more easily. Are these worth using? And if so, any tips on finding one that will fit?

Re: Fuel cap gauge for outboard?

Nice idea, but probably no. The internal tank (I have a Tohatsu 6 four stroke) is oddly shaped to fit under the cowl. And if that weren't enough of a problem, the manual fuel gauges on six gallon rectangular outboard tanks are a bit of a joke - they read full, full, full, full, empty. A look at your wristwatch when you start is likely to give you a better idea.
