Re: Ford Lees 4cyl 80hp + Borg Warner ?71c

I have a BW 71C Velvet Drive transmission in my Pearson. At 25 years old I started researching the cost to repower. I spoke to Beta Marine, who sells engine and transmission packages but the salesman recommended keeping the transmission even if I got a new engine. Said the Velvet Drive was as good as it gets and worth rebuilding if I had a problem with it.

I think I have a manual in a pdf file. Let me know if you're interested and I'll see if I can dig it up.

My Velvet Drive 71 was 30 years old and still worked fine when I repowerd with more HP and went with a 72.
They seem robust.
