Exhaust hose labeling (internal or external diameter?)

Hi there
I am away from my boat getting the parts ready to head back in the fall. One of the items on my list is a new engine exhaust thruhull. I didn't take a picture of the existing hose but I'm almost positive its labeled as a Vetus 3 inch hose (boat was built in England in the mid 80's). Now the question: Would that be external diameter or internal diameter?
Thanks
Gary

Thats exactly what I needed to know.
Now I just have to figure out all the plumbing to get it all attached with as few connections as possible.
Thanks

I'm doing the same thing. I think there are some things that didn't end up on the list

Re: Exhaust hose labeling (internal or external diameter?)

Suggest you use all stainless T-bolt hose clamps in stead of regular SS clamps.

Both pipe ,hose & their fittings are normally sold by ID.

I believe the Vetus Exh. hose size you need is SLANG75
76mm/3" ID & 84mm/approx 31/2" OD.

That is internal diameter. If it's 3 " hose, the product code is SLANG90 (90mm).
Let me know
If you need any help

Good to hear from direct from the supplier John! Thanks for hanging around here.
Based on your response, I guess it wasn't that simple... So I distinctly remember the hose being labeled on the sidewall as "Vetus 3"" hose. I assume way back in the 80's Vetus was still on the imperial measurement track. So does that mean the hose internal diameter is 75mm (3" converted to metric) or 90mm which is 3.5". I guess it might also be an internal diameter of 60mm (2.5"). Rats... now Im confused again.
I've got the hose. I just need to know what fittings will fit inside it (elbows, thru-hull, etc.).
Thanks
Gary

Sorry, I mis-spoke and you are correct - 3" is Slang 75 (still internal). I'll take my brain pill now.

Phew. Ok good. Thanks for replying both times. I now feel better about all the other stuff Im about to purchase. More importantly it's all going to fit perfectly when I get it down to Mexico.
Oh, and yes, I will be using T Bolt clamps.
Thanks everyone
