Never Monday was helpful as ever with advice & suggestion that I followed back then.
Just checking to see if much has changed?
Example - Most Engine shops would NOT give an official survey document but might do a pre-purchase "check" to make sure the engine is OK at the time.
Should a compression test and oil analysis be part of any check?

A leak down test will tell you more than a compression test and an oil analysis
won't necessarily tell you how worn the engine is. I wouldn't think any shop would give you an official survey document without having torn the engine down and checked the wear limits.

Thanks for the response & suggestion - will add to the list
Thanks

"They're different. The compression test measures the ability of your engine to develop the presure necessary to light off the injected fuel. The leak-down test is more of a diagnosis to find where any leaks might be occuring (rings, intake or exhaust valves) if you find low compression."
