I did disconnect the throttle cable and shifted into gear by hand and it still stopped.
Because your engine has common rail injection controlled by a CPU that has various safety modes of operation including shutdown for what the CPU regards as a criticality (like zero oil
pressure) and limp mode for a lesser problem such as coolant
flow, higher exh temp maybe, low alternator
output...... the list is long and if any one of the electronic sensors that provides the CPU with info fails, the result is possibly what is happening with your engine..... hopefully it's just the neutral switch as wisely suggested by a previous post.
