Re: engine problem

Assuming a diesel engine, you have diesel in the oil. Usually the seal in the injector pump has failed at the gear end. It sprays into the gear drive area and drains into the sump. If the engine has excessive black smoke, then a bad injector tip injecting more fuel than the engine can burn and washing down the cylinder walls and into the sump.

More likely the lift pump diaphragm.

Either way doesn't explain oil in coolant which may be a different problem.

That could be from the oil cooler.

Re: engine problem

To bad you didn't mention what engine. I think you have 2 problems. The thin and increasing oil could be diesel from either fuel pump. Oil in the water is hopefully an oil cooler and not a leaking oil passage in the head gasket.
