As far as diesel fuel being a lubricant, much of that quality is being refined out today. I posted a link a few weeks ago to "The Fuel Doctor" that was very interesting reading on diesel fuel. It appears that the new engines are being produced to run on laboratory grade diesel fuel, which does not exist at the pumps.

Is it possible that many of the problems we are seeing with injection pump seals could be caused by the new fuels? I don't know, but something to keep in mind.

Here is a link to one of his articles. His credentials look impressive and I, personally feel his articles are credible.
