just curious about something... I've got a boat under going refit and various systems are being tore out with the engine hopefully being the last.

Anyway, the last system to go was fresh and part of the salt water plumbing. I noticed, while testing some things with the engine, that when I turn the master switch on to power up the engine panel, water starts leaking from a cut pipe near the engine. This stops as soon as the master is turned off and the engine panel goes dark.

Is there some kind of solenoid associated with the cooling system of Yanmar 3H series engines?

Re: Engine Cooling Solinoid on Yanmar 3H series engines

Maybe thermally-switched solenoid-operated valve to use water heater (calorifier) as a heat sink for the engine?

Probably not.

I think you need to find out where the "Pipe near the engine" goes. Remember it's a boat, almost everything is near the engine relatively speaking.

As it turns out, "the pipe near the engine" was a bilge pump out flow made of the same type and diameter as the cooling water inlet.
