e10 in australian fuel..question

just read the thread on ethanol in outboards, i bought a brand new yamaha 2hp 2stroke yesterday and my question is what fuel should i run it on here in sydney australia - not e10 for a start but regular or premium - i wouldnt mind running it on premium cos lets face it price aint going to be an issue

I use premium, like you say price is no issue.
It's far better to be safe than sorry.

As long as theres no alcohol in It, it really don't make any difference! Im sure it's a oil injection model, down the Bayou in Louisiana we use almost all 2 strokes! the dealers tell us to use regular fuel 87 octane, they say premium is a waste ! and can make em run hot ! but if your just useing it for a dink you probley wont ever hurt it ! bout 50 cents a gal different in price down here don't know bout there LOL

Yamaha specify regular unleaded for my 9.9 four stroke.

For most new motors as long as you use fuel with a minimum posted octane rating of 91 you should have no problems.....best bet tho is to ask the Yamaha dealer who sold it to you, if you didn't buy it from a Yamaha dealer, ask Yamaha anyhow....ass covered...

I run a Model A Ford in Gosford and changed from regular to premium because the government was forcing them to put ethanol into the regular. I understand that the govt has responded to pressure and backed down on this issue. If that is the case you could just run the regular, but a telephone call to your local fuel depot should resolve the issue.

A lot of Australian gas stations don't sell regular. It was government policy and may be again some day. You are supposed to buy e10 or premium. Fortunately they have stopped enforcing it.

In north queensland all the stations that I've been to sell regular unleaded, only some sell e10 also. Savior which state are you in ?

Must be in the land of GAS stations not PETROL stations. LOL.

In the above link they say maximum storage time of 2 weeks for e10 without a stabilizer , less in the tropics.

Quite a few places made the move early and stopped selling regular.
