Re: Disposal of used oil.

Yes if you really want to make an environmental issue work, find a way for it to work economically.

Re: Disposal of used oil.

I have used 10% waste oil cut with diesel run through a 30 micron (Agricultural tractor filter) followed by a 10 micron (Racor) then a 2 micron (Marine) filter on my boat.
I run even fresh diesel through the 30 micron before it gets into my tanks. Lotsa "crud" in 3rd world diesel ! I add a half pint of methyl alcohol to each 65 gallon tank plus an ounce of Biocide. Engine is a 4D 61 Lehman Peugeot (2112 Indenor), runs sweet as a nut.
Filters don't last as long and don't run 140 EP gear oil in the "mix" it makes the eyes of following skippers run a lot and is hard to explain to them !

Re: Disposal of used oil.

Have a read over here. Re: Who uses Waste engine Oil? These guys are a great bunch of DIY'ers. There are multiple discussions on using WMO, WVO VVO, how to use it, how to build centrifuges, how to filter, and cut with RUG, and Dino.

I have my beloved old Yanmar, and was wondering if it would be damaged by mixing this used oil into the fuel.
This is a mix of used used motor oil, high quality breathing air compressor synthetic oil, and all of the oil from the boat oil changes.
The accumulation is starting to grow and I guess I could just burn it, or burn it in boat.
Thoughts ? Thanks

Isn't there a business or industry somewhere on the island which requires heat or hot water? Garages have been using old oil to fuel furnaces for years.
