So we're
motor sailing in light winds at the end of LI Sound and the
engine overheats and we kill the
engine and have a look. Pulley came right off of the circulating
pump on the 30 yr old MD17D. We get towed in to a
dock and begin searching for the part. No one stocks it... at least all the places I was able reach.
No engine
cooling. We're screwed. What to do?
Can these things be rebuilt? Can one find the part somewhere? How long does this take typically? Can a separate
electric circulating
pump be used... even temporarily?
Pulley seems to have an eccentric hole now so if it is to be re used a bushing needs to be inserted and aligned I suppose... and may be with a set screw not a press fit???
