Coolant leak after overheat

I heard an engine alarm the other day from my Beta 13.5HP Diesel going off that I believe was an overheat alarm. It's consistent with the fact that I had the throttle floored at the time, and it's possible the oil level was a tiny bit low.

Regardless of the cause, I backed off the throttle, and the alarm eventually went off. When I checked the engine compartment later, I noticed a small amount of green fluid below the engine, which I have to assume is coolant.

My assumption is that a seal started leaking when the engine overheated or was driven too hard. It hasn't leaked since, and I haven't been able to identify the source of the leak.

What preventive actions can I take right now to fix this issue and/or prevent it from happening again?

My assumption is that a) you have no temperature gauge and b) the overheated coolant escaped past the pressure cap or overflow tank.

Put a catch can on the overflow. That stuff stinks, which is a good signal at first but gets old fast. Really, no temp gage? I would get one of those IR guns for $20.
