Re: Changing Racor Filter

I removed the filter today and as suggested filled it with fresh diesel. Then put back in place hand tight, it took a few pumps or more and the diesel started to come out of the vent hole. It had tiny air bubbles so I pumped a number more strokes. then tighten the primer and the vent screw,

The boat is on the hard so it will be a couple of weeks before it is launched and I can start the engine, thanks to all, hope it runs fine,

I have an old style oil can with a bent spot on the rim I use for all of this. It makes it a bunch easier to get the fluids into the filters, if ya have a problem doing this maybe the filters need to moved ! always remember the KISS rules ! always works for me ! Even Connie can and do change the filters aboard our boats
Good idea for diesel, oil - can't hurt, except many are horizontally mounted. The sports bottle idea is a good one-

Re: Changing Racor Filter

Where to buy the 12volt pump that will work to bleed the air out.
Have see a photograph of the Racor dual filter system with a 12volt small pump with
on / off toggle switch.
What is that pump ? in line diahram pump ? 12v priming pump ? or 12 v electrical fuel pump? or 12v air bleed priming pump ?

Can you help tell me what this best pump would be.Where to buy ?

Thank you
