Can I use UV dye in transmission

Hello again,


One last question before I head to the boat.

I remember reading somewhere to check the transmission oil by NOT inserting the dipstick all the way in (rest the dipstick on top of the hole).


The manual simply shows how to remove the dipstick. I found a poll that said to not insert all the way but it was not specific to any model and seemed to reference dipsticks that screw in.


Can anyone confirm this.

Good news -

This dye worked great.

Bad news -

This dye worked great. I have a small (1 teaspoon per hour of runtime) leak on the shaft leaving my transmission. I assume that means my rear seal is going bad but I will research that some more.
