Bukh 32me overheating

OMG, how hard is it... the old girl decided to over heat and shut down. All good, sailed onto mooring, let her cool and started with the obvious. Impellor, good. Water flow in, good. Water inlet behind flywheel, good. Ripped head off, no obvious blockages. Elbow brand new. Did a 3 hour lymryde flush and an overnight soak for exhaust manifold. Started her up, 20 mins in reverse on mooring, still overheating. I'm buggered if I know.... any thoughts?

Did the engine shut down by itself or do you mean that you shut it down?

If the latter, perhaps you have faulty temperature sensor / switch / gauge.

Have you confirmed the overheating by another means - e.g. IR temperature gun etc.

Re: Bukh 32me overheating

Are you saying your engine got so hot it quit? If so, you are lucky it would start again. That might only mean it blew the head gasket and flooded the engine, or something.
