BMW D7 Marine Engine info

I know this model has been beaten up on a thread many years ago but mine is in need of a major overhaul, so more than an oil change is required. The entire top end will come off, hence I need all the seals and gaskets, and who knows what else. I am taking on water into the engine oil so probably a gasket and it has great difficulty in starting so probably Injectors need service or replacement. Valves are probably worn as well. This has only run on fresh water and ran smooth til late. Parts are from Germany so cost might be prohibitive and timing if I need that one more thing I forgot. What is an alternative 7-8HP Inboard Engine that is Diesel that is efficient and cost effective and reliable. What am I looking at $$$wise.
