Better Prop ?

To all CS30 owners or those with the same engine and boat size. I have the original Volvo Penta 2002 with the 2 blade fixed prop. I would like to change the prop to something that gives me more power through the water. What are my options? Can I go to a three blade feathering?

Of course you can go to a three blade feathering....contact one or all of the prop manufacturers for sizing and a quote. Then you'll just need to pull the old prop and put the new one on.

Re: Better Prop ?

Perhaps if you want a response from a "prop expert" you might give them some info to work with, such as:
- vessel displacement
- vessel waterline length
- engine horsepower at ? rpm
- transmission reduction ratio
- saildrive or inboard
- maximum prop diameter available while maintaining adequate tip clearance
- existing prop size and its performance

Re: Better Prop ?

Go to one or all of the below on line sites and input your data , this will give you some idea of what you require, actually these sites come up with fairly accurate data (depends on your accuracy with the input), many online propeller manufacturers will quote on line as well especially for known brand yachts

Re: Better Prop ?

Look at MaxProp's as well. New, or 2nd hand. Especially as the company has a great reconditioning service. Also, you needn't necessarily go to more blades on the prop to get better output. There are a lot of factors which play into how much power you're putting into the water, thus propelling the boat. Many of them already noted. But even an engine's bore size & stroke length plays into this, so keep an open mind.

I continue to enjoy my Michigan Wheel. If you provide the details that CPT Steve mentioned they can set you up.

Contact North by West in B.C. they are the builders of the Campbell Sailor prop. Each one is designed and cast for your boats' specifications. Based on the information you give to them im advance. The turn around time is good also and your are paying CDN Dollars.

I contacted this company and they provided me with a quote. Before I pull the trigger on a three blade fixed prop I would like to hear from others who have this prop. Good or bad ??
