This problem just cropped up for me, too on a Yanmar 2gm20f. She's been idle for about a month as I traced down some wiring issues and replaced the alternator and belt. Just fired her up and I'm getting a high pitched squealing as well as the water pump wheel not turning. So...replace the water pump, too?

My fresh water pump spindle in front would not even spin manually. Had to replace the pump.
