4.108 or 4.203

Hello there.

My name is Alastair I'm from the UK. I do not own a boat. I'm sorry, but hold on a second don't shout me away quite yet.

I have a perkins diesel engine, and I can't identify it. I think I've narrowed it down to a 4.203 or a 4.108 and I don't know which.

Can anyone tell me how to identify it? Or tell me the differences/similarities. It leaks so much oil i need to get some gaskets.

I thought you chaps would be my best bet in helping me in my quest.

From what I understand I can't identify it from any of the engine numbers I've found cast in the block as it is or could be a pre 66 engine.

I've attached a photo of some of the numbers.

Thank you in advance

Re: 4.108 or 4.203

Thank you for that.

As I mentioned none of the engine numbers i have make any sense and I believe are pre 66 thus will not help me identify my engine. I've looked and there is no 203 or 108 anywhere.

If it's 1966, probably a 4107. Send pictures of the whole engine and someone may be able to id it.
Email Parts4 engines. They sell lots of Perkins parts and maybe can identify it.

Re: 4.108 or 4.203

Looks like a 4203 definitely not 4108.

Re: 4.108 or 4.203

The valve cover, the lift pump location, starter location, injectors just about everything.
