3.3 HP Mercury Bolt torque

After reading the recent thread on trouble with frozen bolts on 3.3 outboard I want to loosen and anti seize the 6mm bolts on the lower unit and torque them tight. What would you use for anti seize, I have Lanocote and Nikel. by Jet-Lube (pure nickel) The outboard is only weeks old.

Re: 3.3 HP Mercury Bolt torque

I cant help on the torque but my tip is to use Loctite 242 or 222 threadlocker or similar anaerobic sealant instead of antiseize. The reason I say this as it still stops the corrosion but you dont risk the bolt coming loose.
I do use nickel anti-seize on exhaust bolts where the temp is too high for 242

I have done this for decades with good results.
No experience with Lanocote but plenty love it.
Remote sounds good.

Enjoy your cruise.

Re: 3.3 HP Mercury Bolt torque

Duralac is the best for that. Tefgel should be OK also, but has the potential for backing off.
I use a normal 10mm wrench and hold it in the middle to no get to much leverage and get it moderately tight from there.

If you can get a “high tack” lubricant, WD40 had one last time I was in Home Depot (18 months ago) spray the entire powerhead with that in several coats. As the motor heats and cools it will work it’s way into any thread/ flange crevices.
Instead of salt!

Tomodore, let me recommend that you tuck a bolt torque table in your files somewhere. While you can get specific manufacturer's torque values from a service manual, knowing the generally accepted torque value for a given size (and sometimes, quality) bolt keeps you in the game. Here is an example:

Thank you for the responses. We returned to Puerto Escondido this evening and back on line, well sort of since the coverage is spotty. But the view and climate rock.
