2 Diesel tanks

Hi,

Hoping for some feedback.

I have 2 fuel tanks. One was added and is well above the original one that is under the aft bunk. The system to switch between is very confusing with multiple valves. Why can't I just make a connection/ valve that dumps the fuel from the top tank into the lower one?

Re: 2 Diesel tanks

That could cause overflow from the lower tank's vent valve.

Re: 2 Diesel tanks

You could if you plumbed it correctly. Kind of like a sink drain at home. Just make sure you have the vent part of the system bullet proof. Sometimes check valves will solve vent problems.

Re: 2 Diesel tanks

Sounds like somebody added a "day tank" Keep them separate in-case one gets contaminated by bad fuel

Re: 2 Diesel tanks

Possibly the top one gravity feeds the engine (day tank) and the lower one is the main storage.
