Yet, the responses are talking about Prouts, (an ugly boat, if you ask me. Sorry Prout owners). Solaris, Catalac and Edel.........??

I totally agree with you it being ugly. I'd much rather a shapely wooden yacht to look at.......until it came to maintenance. There are more eye pleasing cats but I've never seem a beautiful one.
I read many years a book ""Your first Atlantic crossing". It's advice was, When choosing a yacht buy one that smiles at you. The old prouts don't smile. They are British. They give a Churchilian Growl. But in a force 10, the worst I've been in, I'd rather be in one than a glamorous modern light weight. But no yacht is perfect. I just happened to feel perfectly safe in a Prout and to me it proven itself. And yes, if I could change it onto a "bird catcher" when i sailed into a marina.......Well that would be ideal. But Prouts are made for seas not necessarily for marinas[/QUOTE]

You should check marina costs and capacity on the Europe side. Mooring for a cat can be very expensive and often hard to find

Re: Would you choose an Endeavorcat 34 or Gemini 105mc to cross the Atlantic?
Don’t ask here. You’ll get a load of replies from folk who’ve never sailed a catamaran or crossed an ocean. Some won’t have even seen the cats they’re advising on.
There are two ways to get good information. Speak to someone who’s done it or go onto Facebook and find the owners club pages for the boats you’re interested in. There you’ll find people who know what they’re talking about
You’re unlikely to get useful advice here.

And when looking at marina rates online in Europe ,always check if they’re the same per meter as monohulls. I was quoted a 50% surcharge for my cat. Even on a T head where beam doesn’t matter. Oddly enough I found a better place.

In production boats, no design intended just for coastal cruising is suitable for ocean crossings. You might get lucky, but that is foolhardy.
In cats, you need minimal windage and therefore, a minimum of head room, if only 34'. Think, sitting headroom.
You need good 360 degree visibility from the helm, light weight, strong construction, an easily reffed rig, and enough wing clearance to take your RIB through the wing tunnel. Tall order!
The best options in this size are custom one off designs. Most production boats are designed to sale, not sail! Palatial accommodations at the dock are what sells!

That would seem to contradict this post from 2010:
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...eds-50792.html
It would appear that the Gemini 105Mc did not finish first, but also did not finish last............
More comments by my cousin's uncle, brother's sister, who once saw one and their dad's brother said it was "rough"..........

I am in the gem for men ears and cross the ocean in a larger cat. my Gem was a nice boat but just didn’t have the provisioning space for a long crossing.

We had a Gemini, but the only men’s ears onboard were mine.

Re: Would you choose an Endeavorcat 34 or Gemini 105mc to cross the Atlantic?
I have no great ocean experience but aren't full keels with keel stepped masts and sturdy rigging good?. Reasons are that they don't float well upside down, and the can take a couple 360 rolls without falling apart? True?

There is a section in the Gemini Catamarans Groups.io site dedicated to the blue water topic.
The most factual accounts can be found in Tony Smith's(Gemini Gems) and S/V Footprint's(Blog) written accounts of their crossings.
The owner's manual is also a good source of information.

Might I enquire which Gemini Models they were,
There are five different models available,
Only the 105MC was classified as a Blue Water vessel, European C rating,
2003 to 2010
That was after Tony Smith crossed the Atlantic in 2002, In a 2002 model 105MC,
He stripped out the Cherry Wood panelling to make them lighter,
Mine is a 2003, The first of the Blue Water cruisers,
I have no problems in Open Ocean, As thats all I sail in, Australia doesnt have enclosed waters to sail in, Its all open ocean,
20 foot waves and screaming winds, Not a problem, I sit on the Hammock on the transom and enjoy the ride,
I sail in Bass Straight, Victoria, Australia,
The one in Port Lincoln, SA sails in the Southern Ocean,
FYI, Cheers, Brian,

It is CE Category A. But boats after 2006 I think lost the certification because a guy that had spent his life designing boats then bought one. Then he dismantled it and complained about every single detail and sued PCI. Tony Smith would have had to do a bunch of work to defend himself just as the economy was turning going down so they just dropped it.
The Legacy is certified CE category B

Gemini cats are coastal cruisers. If you are looking for a sub 40 foot ocean-going cat, get a Prout.

Well, there it is boys........ some random guy on the internet that owns a monohull is telling me to buy a boat they built so well, they went bankrupt 18 years ago.
No thanks.
To the OP, here you go, a couple of beautiful gems. They look so seaworthy, comfortable and so up to date:

Good luck on your future purchase, and let us know how the crossing goes.
