Re: Where Can Catamarans Haul Out ?
Ok, I must confess that I have not updated my spreadsheet linked in post #27 ( http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...html#post95341) of this thread in several years since I discovered the Active Captain ( http://www.activecaptain.com/) online cruising database. I am a firm believer in NOT duplicating data and I have grown lazy in my older years so I will ask that this thread be closed with the recommendation that anyone looking for places to haul out a catamaran consult that database.

Bobby's Boatyard at Simpson Lagoon on Sint Maarten. At least they're sitting in the yard and I'm guessing they made it up on the lift.

??????? How is this useful? In the Auckland region alone there are over 4 yards that can haul cats, plus another 5 further north and as many heading south a bit.
It’s not that hard to get a wide-beam boat hauled in most major recreational boat markets, as many of the larger power boats have beams approaching those of most mid-sized cats. If they can take 20m boats, they can very likely take the 8-9m beam of cats.
I guess the west coast of NA doesn’t have that many cats, and I understand the Baltic states are similar, but otherwise?
As for making it usable, a searchable database by region or location (within x miles of y).

Actually, something like this is useful in North America. An updated version of the spreadsheet Cotemar posted a few years back with a "location" column would do the job. There's no need for a searchable database.
Cheers,

Actually, it's remarkably easy to combine a searchable spreadsheet with a google map.
If someone wants to create the list, I can create the map and grant editing rights to whoever is interested.

Here is a link to Cotemar's last spreadsheet from Feb, 2017:
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...0&d=1487619758
And here is the link to the thread:
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...es-103023.html
I expect Cotemar will not object if someone wants to update and/or reformat the information.

I suspect there are a much larger percentage of cats in Australia and NZ than most of the rest of the sailing world and that the infrastructure reflects that. As mentioned above, most recreational boating centers have facilities that can haul a cat, but these become scarce south of Mexico. In many of the areas we have been in the Pacific the only options available to cats are yards catering to the commercial fleet. Now that Alwoplast has closed it's doors for the foreseeable future, I am not aware of any yard on the west coast of South America that can haul a cat. In fact, I can't think of any yard between Puerto Vallarta and Tierra del Fuego that could haul us with our 26' beam.

Re: Where Can Catamarans Haul Out ?
I've been updating Cotemar's information continuously. I've just uploaded it to the Miscellaneous Document section of the Library. In response to those who believe it is unnecessary, the lift capabilties (width and length) vary considerably as to what boat beam and LOA can be lifted. Some facilities will not suffice for bigger boats (I can personally attest!).

I must be an idiot, or old age is finally getting to me. I’ve looked at the misc docs section of the library and don’t see your upload! Jeesh....
