Voyager Sailing Catamarans

Hi All.
Considering a 97 Voyager 36 to purchase. I've always liked the 38, can anyone advise anything on these boats.

I'm new to cats.

Cheers, Keith

Re: Voyager Sailing Catamarans

Are you talking about a Voyager power cat or a Voyage sailing cat?

The lengths suggest the former and the vintage suggests the latter.

Re: Voyager Sailing Catamarans

Cavalier 32 I have surveyed at least two Voyager sailing cats. Both were well used since they had been in charter. The biggest issues were osmosis on the mini keels and rudders. I also have never liked how flexible the front of the cabin is. All those large forward-facing windows letting light into the main saloon and not enough structure to support them.
Cheers

Thanks, I agree, that's a large flat area.

This post is speaking about apples and oranges.
FWIW I believe Voyager Yachts are monohulls and Voyage Yachts are Cats. Please educate me if I am wrong.
Anyway years ago I owned a Voyage 440 Cat for almost 5 years and sailed it from Maine to Venezuela with many stops in between. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the brand. They are terrific sailing boats as long as you are not concerned about sailing close to the wind and they slam a lot but always felt safe. BTW all cats slam but Voyage wins in that category.

Re: Voyager Sailing Catamarans

Voyager 36 sometimes called the Ventura was an Australian catamaran desigend by Crowther I think and built at one time by Seawind - this in the 1990s mainly for charter work, there was also a motor version - powered by sail drives. They have a solid foredeck and modest rig. https://www.boatsonline.com.au/boats...tamaran/322005

Voyage (without the "r") Yachts are catamarans built in South Africa.
