Trampoline Replacement

I will be replacing my trampoline on a Lagoon 380 and interested in opinions on materials (webbing, mesh, netting, etc.) and construction (border type, openness, etc.). My preference is low maintenance while my wife prefers comfort. Any advise on the pros and cons for the different options?

I chose the 3/8 open mesh from Sunrise Products. The price was right as well as the service and quality. The open mesh has worked well in shedding water pretty quickly. Much more quickly then I thought it would. And we have taken water over the deck. It's also comfortable to walk on without fear of getting a toe caught in the mesh. Lying down on it is comfortable too. It was relatively easy to install, just keep in mind that it will look too small to fit when you spread it out. It will fit. They do sell other net styles if you don't want the mesh. Hope this helps...Sid

Flat materials, like webbing, are not only more comfortable to lay on but easier to walk on also (as opposed to awful fishnet like materials on some cats).

I have the same. Excellent stuff. Open enough to let the water through, smooth enough to be comfortable. Mine is now 5 years old and looks as good as new.

I too have just installed the 3/8 Offshore Polyester net. Very pleased with the product and the fit as well as the comfort under foot and when lying. The transaction was also flawless. Arrived on the day predicted on ordering, even accounting for the shipping half way arond the world. Excellent!

Many years ago, for a Paul Lindenberg 48 ft cat, we got the net from an industrial cargo sling and net builder. Saved megabucks. Might be worth your while to investigate.

I went with 1" Dyneema knotless net. My main reason was its strength (almost 10x of the strength of 3/8" offshore polyester net). I wanted it to support weight of dinghy when left on the net + weight of entire crew and I thought stronger net would serve as a safer alternative. Plus, it had the best price/strength ratio (around $950 for Lagoon 410) from fishing net supplier.

Interestingly, I just did research on making a mesh trampoline for a lightweight bed/catamaran. I found what looks to be good stuff, 660ft of 1.25in wide
woven polyester strapping for $100. This is 3,200 lb test strapping for outdoor packaging.
Heavy Duty Poly Cord in Stock - ULINE
At 660ft that would be about 50 sq ft with 3/4 holes in a mesh.
This is probably way stronger than needed, the lighter
1/2" x 3,900' Polyester Cord Strapping S-5002 - Uline might be a better choice.

I should get the wider heavy stuff next week and will see how comfortable it is to sit on.

we went with the Dyneema netting too, which we ordered through net systems
cheaper than the custom webbing tramps, as well as lighter and will allow more water through when washing the anchor in a bigger sea. We have a webbing tramp on the back and see whey they are so expensive to have made, the amount of sewing required to make it really strong and secure must have taken someone weeks to do

Replaced both of the OEM nets on my Privilege with the 3/8 product from Sunrise in 1998 and after 15 years exposure to Miami sun and as many as 8 bodies on them at once, they virtually show no sign of wear. Truly, one of the best custom-made marine products in the marketplace. Highly recommended.

I got my strapping in, and its your typical soft strapping.
I was concerned it would be very stiff like some types of package strapping.

I noticed that sailrite sells similar stuff,
Webbing Polyester White 1" 1500# just not as strong as the packing strap.

They also sell already made webbing sold by the yard,
Mesh Polyester White 46"

Dyneema seems overkill for a trampoline.
