Don't fall for their claims of "equivalent HP". It's pure BS based on very dubious assumptions such as equating static bollard pull and torque at very low revs for a gas engine with real world performance.

The efficiency of the motor and propeller system determines the actual propulsive output. Torqeedo has higher efficiency relative to gas outboards. That said, if you have a boat with very much windage and the wind kicks up 1100 watts isn't going to do much.

Thanks everybody for comments. Electrification can wait: we couldn't fix the old 9.9hp outboard but bought a new old one.
