Re: Top 10 Cat Manufacturers

No mention of Gemini catamarans. It is not considered the best built cat, but many say it offers a lot of "Bang for the Buck" I sailed on one recently and was impressed. What's the scoop on Geminis?

I mentioned Gemini in my thread starter and they have been brought up a couple of other times. Remember this thread is not about quality or attributes or anything else except production numbers and those numbers do not imply that a boat is good or bad or anything else. However, I do like Geminis and I believe the company has captured a corner of the market and 1100 other people (the buyers) have thought so, too. Of course, one could say the same thing about any other boat ever made. I like Catanas and Privileges, and Lagoons and Outremers and Mantas and Fontaine Pajot and Leopard and Switch and Gunboats and Voyage and Maine Cats and Fusion and Atlantics and Prouts and Seawind and Blubay and Kelsall and Schionning and and and and .......... Re: Top 10 Cat Manufacturers

Sorry but I find that ridiculously ugly and it looks like the nose is going to go under in what looks like flat seas.

That rear Scarab style is hideous IMO. The vertical windows are very Leopard and for some reason it doesn't look like an ocean cruiser, probably due to windage. I'm no expert but I don't think they will sell many based on looks.

I thought that, The nose looks like it is ready to dive under,
I would like to see the front of the bows, If they are thin, it would probably pitchpole if it was travelling fast,

The mast looks like it is a long way forward also,

Re: Top 10 Cat Manufacturers

I just replied to another thread about total production output and I realize that I didn't have lagoons numbers. From this page click on the models tab for the models and numbers.
LAGOON Catamaran - construction, vente et location - constructeur catamaran de luxe, bateau de plaisance et de croisère
L35-11
L37-43
L380-over 650
L410-283
L42-51
L440-423
L470-51
L500-130
That equals 1642 boats built. I do not have the data for L420, L47, L55, L57, L560, L620, L67.
Even with these missing numbers I wonder if Lagoon is the #1 production builder of all time. FP claims 2050 so Lagoon would need 500 of these larger boats to catch up. I wonder?

FWIW, FP is claiming 2172 (including trawler cats).

Re: Top 10 Cat Manufacturers

You're right. I had the same link back in October when I started this thread. I guess it's now been updated. If you click on the Discover it link on this page it will get a Youtube video where they are now claiming 2200. I don't know if he's rounding up. Anyway, this is what they say.

The world’s leading builder of cruising catamarans, the Fountaine Pajot boatyard was set up in 1976 near La Rochelle.
