Surveyor for Cat

Hi All,
Just signed the papers to purchase an Orana 44 in Martinique and am looking for recommendations for a competent surveyor to inspect, sea trial and haulout.

Based on past experience can anyone please make a recommendation. For obvious resons I don't necessarily want to go with those that the Broker has "Recommended"

Thanks
Graham

Try Mike Firestone in Texas. He's very good; brokers hate him since he tells it like it is. People were flying him around to survey in Caribbean (or thereabouts) and I managed to snag him in Rockport for my own boat survey in 2005. He knows multihulls, since there is an active cohort of multihuller folk in that area.

Man, I remember those freaky large jellyfish "cabbageheads" during our sea trial. No jellyfish like that in NYC...

I recommend Bob Goodchild. Bob is based in Grenada but regularly travels to other Windward and Leeward Islands. Been around for ever and very well respected.

Here's his details....

We also recommend Mike Firestone, P.O. Box 3045, Port Aransas, TX 78373 / 361-749-7767. Very competent, very highly regarded, and actively involved in multihull sailing. Well worth the travel expenses involved.

Myosys, Mike, Dwight and Susan
Thank you very much for the opinions and recommendation.

I will certainly keep both in mind and also make contact, although through seeing Bob Goodchilds name mentioned somewhere on the forums previously I had been in contact with him already so his recommendation again reinforces the value of opinions on this site.

Again thank you all for taking the time.

Regards
Graham

Re: Surveyor for Cat

We just used Jonathan Sands, Atlantic Marine Group for a soon to be ours Bahia 46. Very thorough and knowledgeable. In addition to the hull and mechanics, he also does rigging inspection and fluid analysis. One stop shop. 954.881.5588 JonS*at*AtlanticMarineGroup*dot*com
