One of the good points 1st developed on the Antares, subsequently St Francis and thesdays on the Freeflow 46. Seems others also are following.
Manta's had that feature since day one starting in 1993, It really isn't a cruising boat unless it has that feature.

Hugh, she's looking awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing it in CT at the Boat Show and meeting you.

I totally agree. Different kinds of sailboats for different kinds of uses. My monohull had a flimsy bimini and no dodger. I was in the elements all the time. After spending some time on a SF50 underway, I don't know that I could go back. Unless I was just having fun around a harbor.

Re: St. Francis 50: "Wayfinder"

Its looking very stylish Hugh. Some of the ideas in the design are game changers, can't wait for you to share your findings on how she sails and her final weight... also can't wait to see her in the flesh. We have the Southampton Boat show here in the UK this month but sadly is a little light on makes I actually like. Looks like i'll have to fly to the USA to see Wayfinder there..

Congrats Hugh. Amazing how they raise it! The graphics look great too. How did the dinghy crane work out?

Nice job done by the Yard....
I am sure an extension to the Mast installation Boom for the next generation boats is in the works

Thanks, Syd. I look forward to getting to Charleston and seeing you.

The hull prior to mine is similarly loaded and has made 17 knots under sail, not surfing. But that was top speed. Cruising with decent wind, the boat will average 10-12 knots while hitting 12-15. I'm not that ambitious, though. I'll be happy to average 8-10 while hitting 10-12. We'll see. I am putting quite a bit of weight onboard with the dinghy and a few other items. And for the delivery, we'll have 4 people plus kit. So I'm keeping my expectations very low.

Someone asked about the dinghy davit. We tested it last night for the first time, and it worked perfectly. I'm still shocked how well it works. And how well the davit stows along side the dinghy. We got the measurements perfect (helped that we built a full-size template of the dinghy out of cardboard and sticks of wood).

I'm still wary of the energy cost of running the winch. I'd like to try the same thing with a 4-part pulley system and a manual winch, just to make sure that works as a backup. More on this system soon.

Thanks
