I have created an 18 minute video of the recent test/sea trial we did on the St Francis 50. In order to give some flavour to the report I have created an 18 minute video which I hope reflects some of the experience of the day.

This video is designed for 512k bandwidth. I will upload one later today that is for a 256k bandwidth.

Nice video. I look forward to the internal tour, and hope that it includes some dialogue from Leslie on her thoughts.

That berthing manoeuvre making full use of the two widely spaced engines (and no bow thruster

) must have opened the eyes some!!!

It is hard to find good quality video like this, most of what I look at as I try to decide what kind of cat to buy is low quality Youtube video. I look forward to the other videos.

Indeed. The builders ought to take note. It's so darn cheap to do this, and there's not a better way to get some initial information out to the marketplace and create some interest.

Very enticing video - and obviously a very nice and relaxed day of sailing on a nice boat.

I especially liked the nice "tender" you had where the chopper took off

Are you going to have a good place to fish from on the boat? Live bait well? Filleting station?

Gurdy you should have your own podcast... well made video.... great stable professional looking footage, and the voice over is right on point. You should repost it to youtube and vimeo.

I understand that it was a test sailing, but I'd thought it was fun to see a bit more of the interior.

Can you make a similar video on all catamarans on the market?

Thank you for taking the time to share this video with us, and now I understand why you should have a video studio in the boat.

You can handle the the camera...

What is coming is a much more detailed tour of the boat and its a good idea to have Lesley comment, so the video will include both of us.

The Leopard one will include both the sea trial and the tour.

I shoot a lot of video - its shot in HD to National Geographic broadcast standards and then reduced to a tiny fraction of its original quality but that allows a lot of scope in post production. I have to balance the video with me getting answers to my many questions on the sea trial and I only have the one camera to shoot with - they are not set pieces but I think that helps make them better.

I am happy to shoot anything connected with sailing - it costs the owner/builder nothing and builds up my footage library. I accept no editorial control nor any contributions to cost. So if anyone out there wants some sailing or other footage of their boats, interview footage etc I am only too happy to try and it it in. I am in South Africa soon and will be covering the coast from Port Elizabeth down to Cape Town.

I really can see no reason why all boat builders do not use video to show off their products. if there were videos of all the boats models that would make it a lot easier for prospective builders. Videos do not have to be to Utube fuzzy standards.

Talbot - I am used to docking large 60 foot power boats with the props much nearer than the St Francis - that is not the problem. The problem is that I only have 5 ft Lesley as featured in the video as my total crew and in UK ports we are often put in incredible situation with wind blowing a spare space of no more that 1 or 2 feet - I never let crew jump of a boat - they only ever step off and there are still problems with a cat in wind in tough situations. In the pontoon on the video anyone could have docked the boat even in a wind but such space is rare in my experience.

Thanks - I wish there was a stampede. I shoot all aspects, for example 0 I am producing a pilotage video for parts of the UK, videos on anything from sail making to any connected aspect are welcome.

Its almost impossible to fly around with all my video gear so a boat with it all on is going to be great. Its also a great way for me to learn about aspects of sailing.

For our DVD work we normally hire in a pro BBC voice - its only on small scale productions like this that I bore you with my voice and no script - just talking as I watch.

On a boat this size I definitely vote for the furling screecher. Is the "St. Francis resort" really associated with the manufacturer? On Stocking Island, Georgetown, Exhumas, Bahamas - how cool is that!
