Small Catamarans: What's Out There ?

Good evening

I'm looking for plans to build a nice small cat, about 6.5 to 7 meters long.
What's available?

Something with enough space for a bunk or two and a tiny galley area. I just want a good performing boat with a spot to take a nap and make a warm meal or drink.

My previous boat was a Farrier trimaran, so I am okay with the building bit. I am okay with working in either glass composites or wood. Whatever I build must be pretty and not look like something out of a 1966 Popular Mechanics Magazine.
Must have daggerboards or centreboards, and sail well.
Not a Wharram or Woods design.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Banjo.

Well, you've pretty well eliminated your best choice, a Woods Whizzer or Sango. They've got the features you want. The only other ones in that size range tend to be aesthetically challenged or performance challenged or both. Wharrams you either love or hate, I understand that.

I'm curious to know why you ruled out Woods?

Miss Cindy, Tony’s home built catamaran. For sale now! – stevenjen - Quit our jobs and bought a Westsail 32. Now what?

She's a little smaller, but gives a good idea of what can be had.......i2f

Also curious on why-not Woods? I like his more recent designs quite a bit - am considering commissioning one but need to sell my Tri first.

Contour 34 in case anyone is interested

Here is a 7 meter one that might work.

Here is a 6 meter one that looks functional.
ECO6page

Is it scary that I think I could build one of these? It would probably be just as easy as finding the perfect catamaran, updating it, putting an electric motor in it, and then updating a few electrical toys on board.

I have made speaker boxes before out of MDF/plywood... This just seems to be a much bigger speaker box with a lot more details.

Best to try and make this and make sure it floats before you really commit.

Re: Small Catamarans: What's Out There ?

How much would a boat like the 7m one cost do you think?

KD860page
I would even like the 8.6m one they have, if the bridgedeck cabin area could be raised to 2m (6.5 ft.). And I could convert that area into a bed with an inflatable air mattress. While turning one of the berths into a bicycle/kayak paddle/toy storage room.
(to look like this inside: Pelicanp2 )

Then again, how much more would the 11.5m Pelican be? How many more hours will it take to construct? That looks like a nice boat, and the marine wood/fiberglass material they use looks a lot easier to use than other building processes.

And I would probably hire out other parts of the construction process, and buy the same third party equipment I would have to add to an older boat anyway.

And then I could look into building some hydrofoils on it to cruise really fast... now I am dreaming. It's time for bed.
