Wink Seeking catamaran 30 - 40 feet, in the Mediterranean

Hi
We are a Danish couple looking for a catamaran, about 30 to 40 feet in the Mediterranean. Our budget is a little low, around 45,000 euros.
Our only requirements are newer engine and usable rig and sail.
We are ready for a quick and uncomplicated trade when we find the boat.
Does anyone know anyone?
If we can help anyone here in Denmark, you are always welcome.

Kind Regards
Conni and Claus

Re: Seeking catamaran 30 - 40 feet, in the Mediterranean

At that price you will likely be buying one of the older British cats.

Prout Snowgoose, Iriquoi, or better the Commanche, possibly a Catalac (eww), maybe one of the old Gemini cats.

Most would be slightly below your budget but would need some work. Those that are in great condition and need no work would likely be breaking the price ceiling for their model, and be over your budget and probably have been on the market for a long time.

Cheapest 'modern' cat in that range would probably be a Tobago 35 in need of some work. Or a very unloved Beneteau Blue II

Hello, if you want a reliable, confortable (for that size), fast and modern looking catamaran, you should have a look to the FP Maldives 32.

This one looks very nice, probably you can negotiate a bit or stretch your budget: Fountaine Pajot Maldives 32 Cruising Catamaran for sale
Good luck.

Re: Seeking catamaran 30 - 40 feet, in the Mediterranean

If you want performance then the FP Maldives is a great boat and very sought after but as Riki says good ones are well over the budget and if within budget will require a lot of work and expense. Like all performace small cats they can capsize in even in experienced hands and not for novices. Most are outboard powered, some have been retrofitted with inboard diesels which impacts performance. The FP Tobago 35 and Antigua 37 are quick and comfortable and also very sought after and you would be lucky to get one in the budget. The FP Louisiane 37 is older, quick, safe, querky layout but confortable and probably affordable. The FP Fidgi 39 would be an excellent choice if you could get one within budget.

Prout Quest, Sirocco and Snowgoose models are moderate performers but very safe and compfortable, can be within budget.

The Sailcraft Iroquois would be well within your budget, decent performance but with narrow beam and tallish rig and quite a few have been capsized. The larger Cherokee and Apache would be good choices, perform quite well but are safer. All of these are 1970s boats so will probably require some updating.
The larger Catalacs should be affordable, safe, slow sailing performance so really a motor/sailer and are 1970s boats again but with decent accomodation.
